Introduction to CorelDraw

What is Coreldraw?

CorelDRAW is a vector graphics editing software developed and marketed by Corel Corporation. It is used primarily for creating and editing vector illustrations, logos, brochures, and other marketing materials, as well as for creating website layouts and user interfaces. The software features a wide range of tools for creating and editing vector graphics, including shapes, text, and images, as well as advanced features such as color management and advanced typography. CorelDRAW is available for Windows and macOS.

What is the difference between Vector base graphics designing and Raster base graphics designing

Vector-based graphics are created using mathematical algorithms, which allow the image to be scaled to any size without losing quality. Vector images are made up of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points or curves that are used to create the shape of the image. These paths can be easily edited, and the image can be resized without any loss of quality. Examples of vector file formats include:

  • .ai (Adobe Illustrator)
  • .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics)
  • .eps (Encapsulated PostScript)
Raster-based graphics, also known as bitmap graphics, are made up of a grid of pixels, each of which has a specific color value. Because raster images are made up of a fixed number of pixels, they can become pixelated or blurry when they are enlarged. Raster images are best used for photographs and other images that contain a lot of detail. Examples of raster file formats include:
  • .jpg (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
  • .png (Portable Network Graphics)
  • .gif (Graphics Interchange Format)
In summary, vector images are resolution-independent and can be resized without losing quality, while raster images are resolution-dependent and can become pixelated when resized.
